This manual covers the installation procedures for RED THREAD® IIA product and secondary containment pipe and fittings. Part One details installation procedures for 2", 3", and 4" (50, 75, and 100 mm) diameter primary product piping. Part Two covers installation procedures for 3", 4", 5", and 6"(1) (75, 100, 125, and 150 mm) diameter secondary con- tainment piping. Part Three describes the installation procedures for our 100% telescoping containment piping. SAFETY This safety alert symbol indicates an important safety message. In any event, improper installation can cause injury or damage. In addition, installers should read and follow all cautions and warnings on adhesive kits, heat packs, propane torches, etc. to avoid personal in- jury. Also, observe general safety practices with all saws, tools, etc. to avoid personal injury. Wear protective cloth- ing when necessary. Make sure work surfaces are clean and stable and that work areas are properly ventilated. PAY PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO PART ONE, SECTION 7 ON TESTING. (UL): • DS -7000 series adhesives for: primary systems—petroleum only secondary containment systems—petrole- um, alcohols, and alcohol/gasoline blends • DS -8000 series adhesives for: primary and secondary containment sys- tems—petroleum, alcohols, and alcohol/gasoline blends. INSTALLATION TRAINING SEMINARS Smith Fiberglass Products offers free, in-depth training seminars covering both primary product and secondary containment piping installation procedures. The training seminar involves hands-on participation, and each attendee re- ceives a complete Smith Fiberglass Products pe- troleum marketing catalog containing installa- tion manuals used during the seminar. Each installer attending also receives documentary proof of attendance. Due to the ever-increasing need for manufactur- er -trained installers, we highly recommend that anyone directly involved in underground piping installations attend the Smith Fiberglass Products installation training seminar. For cur- rent information on training seminars, contact your local Smith Fiberglass Products distributor or representative. To assist installers with proper installation of fiberglass piping systems, the Fiberglass Petroleum Tank and Pipe Institute has prepared an installation checklist, "Fiberglass Piping Systems Installation Checklist for Underground Petroleum Pipe. " This sheet is included in Smith Fiberglass Products petroleum marketing cats - logs.
