Secondary containment system, Section 2632(4)
2. Outer surface of the tank if it's constructed of steel, 2635(2)(x)
3. Spill Container, Section 2635(b)(1)(a)
Your choice of 10 mil tape as we had discussed on the phone yesterday is adequate. The important
thing is to cover any metallic section on the riser and the new spill container exposed to the backfill (soil,
pea gravel, etc.).
Please contact Ray Von Flue at 1(209) 468-9848 to arrange a specific time on the 17th (the day you are
breaking out the concrete) to verfiy corrosion protection, or preferrably, fax a proposed schedule to our
office at 209-468-3433. Our office recommends adequate curing time for cement/concrete before doing
any work (i.e. overnight for Portland cement), such as the spill bucket test.
I will still be available to observe the spill bucket test any time on the following day (the 18th). My cell
number is 209-481-9100. You can could me any time this weekend. If I don't hear from you I will just
show up at around Ilam on the 18th as you had proposed.
Please refer to LG 166 Guideline for spill bucket testing procedures.
Please have the equipment that could demonstrate the new spill container holds a minimum of five
gallons after installation, as required under CCR Section 2635(b)(1)(B). (i.e. that equipment may be
a 5 -gallon, or larger size, bucket)
Regards,
Jeff
From: ajenviro@msn.com [mailto:ajenviro@msn.com]
Sent: Thursday, February 12, 2009 7:24 PM
To: Jeff Wong [EH]
Cc: Patrick Guillermety
Subject: Re:
Jeff,
I will be breaking out the spill bucket, and re -installing the new bucket on the 17th., I do not believe that you have
to be present to witness the excavation of the old spill bucket, and installation of the new one, however I will leave
the excavation open for you to witness the corrosion protection of the Riser pipe and or the new bucket, you can
✓19/2009
