• &•
Groundwater Wells
2b) Undisturbed soil samples shall be taken from exploratory
boring/borings drilled for the purpose of installing (a)
ground water monitoring well(s).. Borings should be drilled
to a depth such that the base of the boring is a minimum of
20 feet below the base of the perennial water table or 15
feet below the base of the tank/tanks, whichever is lower.
The borings shall be located on the perimeter of the tank
cluster as is shown on the attached site sketch.
3b) Soil samples shall be taken at 5 foot intervals, in the
zone above the water table. All samples shall be properly
sealed, labeled, and preserved until they can be analyzed
to determine the presence of any possibly hazardous
substances that are present or have been stored in the
tank/tanks. Soil sampling and testing shall be carried out
as outlined in Section 2645 of the Underground Storage Tank
Regulations.
4b) If the soil samples obtained are determined to be free of
hazardous material the ground water monitoring well/wells
shall be installed as specified in Section 2647 and 2648 of
the Underground Storage Tank Regulations. Ground water
samples shall be collected and analyzed semi-annually, at a
minimum.
5) Pipeline leak detection requirements can be accomplished
by visual inspection since the method of product delivery
is by suction pump. Monitoring shall be as described in
Appendix II of the Underground Storage Tank Regulations.
If pumps are of the submersible type, pipeline leak
detectors of the type described in the appendix to this
report will be required.
6) Tank integrity testing to determine that total product loss
from the tank does not exceed 0.05 gallons per hour, shall
be performed yearly. Integrity testing shall be carried
out as described in Section 2543 of the Underground Storage
Tank Regulations.
