.^a 'r
8. DEALING WITH THE PUBLIC "
t
At all times are the public to be kept off of the site. All projects that
require it will be fenced off with a 6' high chain link fence or a 6'
orange alpine fence. No unauthorized personnel may be on-site
during any phase of operations. Personnel that are visiting or
inspecting as site are required to first make themselves familiar with
the site conditions and make it their responsibility to wear the proper
clothing and protection to make their site visit a safe one.
Hydro -carbon bearing soil may encountered near existing dispenser
islands, which are planned for re -use, if this is the case, the following
procedures will be followed in order to meet County requirements for
permits to install new tanks and piping:
B & T will leave product line excavations in the current locations
in relation to the pump islands. During the installation of the new
product lines, enough soil will be excavated to allow a 2'- wide
and deep clean area around the new piping.
Excavations under the islands will allow a 2' -deep excavation
and as much area on the sides as possible without
compromising the structural integrity of the canopy supports.
2. Any contaminated soil removed during the construction will be
Stored on-site. The materials will be stockpiled on 6 -mil
visqueen plastic, and covered with the plastic with either soil
containerization to follow (either drums or roll -offs) immediately
upon completion of soil removal. This method will be used
unless on-site treatment has been pre -approved.
3. B & T will follow all California Code of Regulations Title 23
Water Resources Control Board, Division 3, Chapter 16
Underground Tank Regulations, and the Uniform Fire Codes
79.101-79.1007 for all underground and aboveground fuel
storage tank removals, installations and modifications. All other
County regulations will be followed as required.
Keep all work and debris out of the public right of way. If work
occurs in the right-of-way make sure it is properly secured and
safe at the end of every working day.
Broom sweep the public right-of-way at the end of every working
day.
