J WEAVER <br />CONTRACTING ZZzZZ XXXXX, CA ccccc <br />3.4.7 Slip/Trip/Hit <br />Slip/trip/hit/fall injuries are the most frequent of all injuries to workers. They can be minimized by (a) <br />spot check the work area to identify hazards, (b) establish and utilize a pathway which is most free of <br />slip and trip hazards, (c) beware of trip hazards such as wet floors, slippery floors, and uneven <br />surfaces or terrain, (d) carry only loads which you can see over, (e) keep work areas clean and free of <br />clutter, especially in storage rooms and walkways, (f) communicate hazards to on-site personnel, (g) <br />secure all loose clothing, ties, and remove jewelry while around machinery, (h) report and/or remove <br />hazards, and (1) keep a safe buffer zone between workers using equipment and tools. <br />3.5 Engineering Controls <br />The use of engineering controls for the protection of personnel is the first means of mitigation. <br />Covering stockpiled material will separate the workers from contaminants. Dust will be controlled <br />primarily by careful project planning and water suppression when required. <br />Contaminated soil generated during construction activities at ARCO service station # 000, will be stockpiled <br />on plastic sheeting and covered with plastic sheeting. The material will then be characterized and disposed <br />of in accordance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations. <br />4.0 SITE CONTROL MEASURES <br />This section outlines site control measures to be implemented to minimize potential exposure to and <br />accidental spread of hazardous substances if encountered during construction activities at ARCO <br />service station # 000. Listed below are the work zones that shall be established when contaminated <br />material is encountered at the site. The zone boundaries may be modified as necessary as new <br />information becomes available. Changes in the work zone will be communicated daily, during the site <br />safety meeting. <br />4.1 Work Zone <br />This area shall be the area where the work is being performed inside the fenced area. <br />4.2 Support Zone <br />This area shall be used as a storage area for operations equipment, break and toilet facilities. <br />4.3 Personal Hygiene and General Safety Requirements <br />Personnel performing or supervising work within the work zone, subject to exposure to vapors, liquids, <br />or contaminated soil, shall observe and strictly adhere to the provisions of this HASP. <br />Any S.J. Weaver Contracting Inc. employee, subcontractor or authorized visitor found disregarding the <br />provisions of this HASP will be barred from the site. <br />Eating, drinking, smoking, chewing gum or tobacco or any practice that increases the probability of <br />hand-to-mouth transfer and ingestion of material is prohibited. Use of or presence of alcoholic <br />beverages or controlled dangerous substances on the job site is strictly prohibited at all times. <br />S.J.
