Ste Health and Safety Plan1,T i
nnnnn Service Station # 000
S. J WEAVER
CONTRACTING ZZzZZ XXXXX, CA ccccc
3.4.7 Slip/Trip/Hit
Slip/trip/hit/fall injuries are the most frequent of all injuries to workers. They can be minimized by (a)
spot check the work area to identify hazards, (b) establish and utilize a pathway which is most free of
slip and trip hazards, (c) beware of trip hazards such as wet floors, slippery floors, and uneven
surfaces or terrain, (d) carry only loads which you can see over, (e) keep work areas clean and free of
clutter, especially in storage rooms and walkways, (f) communicate hazards to on-site personnel, (g)
secure all loose clothing, ties, and remove jewelry while around machinery, (h) report and/or remove
hazards, and (1) keep a safe buffer zone between workers using equipment and tools.
3.5 Engineering Controls
The use of engineering controls for the protection of personnel is the first means of mitigation.
Covering stockpiled material will separate the workers from contaminants. Dust will be controlled
primarily by careful project planning and water suppression when required.
Contaminated soil generated during construction activities at ARCO service station # 000, will be stockpiled
on plastic sheeting and covered with plastic sheeting. The material will then be characterized and disposed
of in accordance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations.
4.0 SITE CONTROL MEASURES
This section outlines site control measures to be implemented to minimize potential exposure to and
accidental spread of hazardous substances if encountered during construction activities at ARCO
service station # 000. Listed below are the work zones that shall be established when contaminated
material is encountered at the site. The zone boundaries may be modified as necessary as new
information becomes available. Changes in the work zone will be communicated daily, during the site
safety meeting.
4.1 Work Zone
This area shall be the area where the work is being performed inside the fenced area.
4.2 Support Zone
This area shall be used as a storage area for operations equipment, break and toilet facilities.
4.3 Personal Hygiene and General Safety Requirements
Personnel performing or supervising work within the work zone, subject to exposure to vapors, liquids,
or contaminated soil, shall observe and strictly adhere to the provisions of this HASP.
Any S.J. Weaver Contracting Inc. employee, subcontractor or authorized visitor found disregarding the
provisions of this HASP will be barred from the site.
Eating, drinking, smoking, chewing gum or tobacco or any practice that increases the probability of
hand-to-mouth transfer and ingestion of material is prohibited. Use of or presence of alcoholic
beverages or controlled dangerous substances on the job site is strictly prohibited at all times.
S.J.
