SITIT Site Health and Safety Plan
nnnnn Service Station # 000
S J WEAVER
CONTRACTING 7%777 xxxxx, CA ccccc
Should an on site spill occur, the immediate response will include closing off the source of the spill, if
possible, application of the sorbent material or sand bagging, and sweeping, as appropriate. All spills
will be investigated, and a written report will be provided to the regulatory agencies in accordance with
applicable regulations (as required).
9.5 Emergency Alarms/Notifications and Procedures
When any emergency occurs on-site, the on-site Project Foreman shall be notified immediately. The
Project Foreman shall notify the client and his representatives. Please refer to Attachment I, Route to
Area Hospital for direction to the area hospital and Emergency Telephone Numbers. In the event of
a medical emergency, fire or spill, personnel will notify the appropriate emergency organization.
9.6 Reporting
All spills, regardless of size, shall be reported immediately to the Project Foreman. The spill will be
immediately reported to client representatives for appropriate notification to regulatory authorities.
When reporting the spill, the first step is to determine the nature of the spill, its size, direction of travel,
and if anyone has been injured as a result of the spill. Upon notification of a spill, all project activity
will be immediately suspended and all necessary equipment and personnel will be diverted to spill
control and containment.
9.6.1 Incident Identification and Assessment
Immediately upon notification, S.J. Weaver Contracting Inc. personnel will assess the situation to
determine if a Third Party Emergency Spill Response Service is required based on knowledge of the
incident, weather conditions, and other factors. If it is determined that Third Party Emergency Spill
Response Service need to respond, all the necessary notifications will be made and S.J. Weaver
Contracting Inc. will supervise control measures. If necessary, back-up from the local authorities will
be requested.
9.6.2 Confinement and Containment
Given the nature of project, all the necessary equipment and personnel necessary to deal with a
release of hazardous substances shall be available on site. In addition to the heavy equipment and
personal protective equipment which is critical to spill control, S.J. Weaver Contracting Inc. shall
maintain a spill kit on site at all times. This kit contain all the equipment typically required for spill
response including absorbents, and personal protective equipment.
Prior to entering a spill area, all workers must be protected from any adverse effects of the spilled
material. No one will enter any spill area alone. The Project Foreman will determine the level of
protection. For all spills of drummed material, the initial level of protection will be based on the
material that has spilled.
To the extent practicable, the area will immediately be cordoned off and, if appropriate, exclusion,
contaminant reduction and support zones will be established.
S.J.
