SITIT SitHealth and Safety Plan
nnnnn Service Station # 000
S J WEAVER
CONTRACTING ZZZzz XXXXX, CA cccc`►
The decision to use confinement techniques such as diversion, diking and retention, are generally
based on time, personnel, equipment and supplies. As mentioned above, all necessary resources will
be available on-site at all times.
In the event of a large migrating spill, an unlikely circumstance, diversion techniques, such as placing
a soil wall or absorbent boom ahead of the spill, shall be implemented first. Subsequently, diking
techniques using material such as sand covered with liner (PVC, hypalon) should be implemented.
9.6.3 Cleanup Operations
Once a spill has been contained and the source of the spill corrected and controlled, cleanup can
begin. Spill cleanup can proceed at the same time as containment, if feasible. Supervisory personnel
will determine the appropriate cleanup methods. Generally, the first action will be to absorb free
liquids with absorbent pads, booms, pillows, or clay. The absorbent material will be placed in drums
and moved to temporary drum storage area. Subsequent to the removal of free liquids, soil believed
to be contaminated will be excavated and stockpiled on plastic covered with plastic for further testing.
10.0 TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Consistent with OSHA's 29 CFR 1910.120 regulation covering Hazardous Waste Operations and
Emergency Response, all site personnel who will be performing a hazardous or a potentially
hazardous activity involving exposure to toxic materials, are required to be trained in accordance with
the standard. At a minimum all personnel are required to be trained to recognize the hazards on-site,
the provisions of this HASP, and the responsible personnel.
10.1 Initial and Annual Refresher Training
Prior to arrival on site, S.J. Weaver Contracting Inc. will certify that employees working in hazardous
areas meet the requirements of pre -assignment training, consistent with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120
paragraph (e)(3). Each general site worker has received 40 hours of instruction off the site. All
personnel must also receive 8 hours of refresher training annually.
10.2 Site Supervisors Training
Consistent with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 paragraph (e)(4), individuals designated as site supervisors
have received the required additional 8 hours of training.
10.3 Site Specific Training
All personnel working on site will receive a site-specific training session prior to commencing work at
the site.
10.4 Training Records
A copy of all training certificates will be kept at the S.J. Weaver Contracting Inc. office for each
person working at the site.
S.J. WEAVER CONTRACTING INC.
Page 16
000-hasp.doc
