t;1 INTRODUCTION
C
This report presents the results of a preliminary geotechnical investigation performed at the request
of ARCO Products Company by SECOR International Incorporated (SECOR) for the site of a
proposed ARCO gas station and AM/PM facility #YWNE located at 2470 West Grant Line Road
in Tracy, California (Figure 1).
This report has been prepared for ARCO Products Company (ARCO) and their project design
consultants, to be used solely in the development of design of the proposed project as described
herein. Thit report may not contain sufficient information for other uses or the purposes of other
parties.
The objective of this investigation was to assess the nature and engineering properties of the
encountered subsoils and to provide tentative geotechnical design recommendations for site
development. A "Site Acquisition Environmental Assessment" was performed concurrently with
this investigation and is presented under separate cover.
The scope of work was performed in accordance with the instructions received from ARCO, and
included the following tasks:
• Drill, log and sample seven soil borings and convert four borings to temporary
groundwater monitoring wells;
• Perform laboratory soil testing on selected soil samples;
• Evaluate geotechnical properties of soils pertinent to the design and construction of the
proposed development; and
• Summarize findings, conclusions, and recommendations in a report.
The site of the proposed ARCO facility is located on the northerly side of Grant Line Road,
easterly of the proposed Pembo Road and southeasterly of the Interstate 205 freeway. Currently,
the site is bounded by vacant property on the north east and westerly sides. An existing Shell gas
station is located approximately 50 feet westerly of the site across the proposed right-of-way for
JN4O o7-095-01
u4nsx97-o6msaeygeo.doc
1-1
