Such a <br /> container or package shall remain closed and shall lack evidence of leakage, spillage or damaged that could cause <br /> leakage under reasonably foreseeable conditions. All broken universal waste lamps and releases shall be <br /> immediately cleaned and containerized. <br /> Immediately store all universal waste lamps in a manner that prevents breakage and release to the environment. <br /> This is a repeat violation, Class II. <br /> 710 HSC 25201.16(h)(4)No written operating procedure for aerosol can processing. <br /> An aerosol can puncturing system was observed in the warehouse maintenance shop(IMG 5651). The liquid from the <br /> aerosol cans is being deposited into a 55-gallon steel drum labeled as hazardous waste.Aerosol cans are punctured <br /> and drained and no operating procedures have been developed and implemented. <br /> Aerosol cans may be processed only if a universal waste handler ensures that the processing operations are <br /> performed safely by developing and implementing a written operating procedure detailing the safe processing of <br /> aerosol cans. This procedure shall, at a minimum, include all of the following: <br /> -type of equipment used to process the aerosol cans <br /> -operation and maintenance of the unit <br /> -segregation of incompatible wastes <br /> -proper waste management practices, including ensuring that flammable wastes are stored away from heat and <br /> open flames <br /> -waste characterization <br /> Immediately develop and implement a written operating procedure for the processing of aerosol cans.
