Electronic waste (E-waste) shall be handled in a manner that prevents breakage <br /> and release of components to the environment. <br /> • E-waste often contain heavy metals like lead, cadmium, copper and <br /> chromium <br /> • If a device is accidentally or unintentionally broken and may cause a <br /> release of hazardous constituents to the environment it shall be <br /> cleaned up immediately and placed in a structurally sound, <br /> compatible container. <br /> • Notify Environmental Specialist if any a-waste breakage has <br /> occurred. <br /> Aerosol cans are considered U-waste in California, but are handled as hazardous <br /> waste. If there is a puncture plan for aerosol cans at the facility or not, aerosol <br /> cans are not to be thrown in the trash. There is a drum for aerosol cans in the <br /> hazardous waste storage area. Please use as much of the product as possible <br /> before placing in the drum or puncturing. (At this time the Lathrop facility has a <br /> permit to puncture aerosol cans on file with the San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department) <br /> • Cans contain flammables, like butane, for propellant for products like <br /> paint. <br /> Universa! Waste Stora a Locations <br /> • Lathrop U-waste storage is located east of the warehouse and south <br /> of the truck shop in a fenced area. The SSI Environmental Specialist is <br /> responsible for this area and is to be notified of everything that is <br /> placed in this area. <br /> • Turlock U-waste area is in the Northeast corner of the truck shop <br /> north of the Spengler Way truck entrance. The SSI Environmental <br /> Specialist is responsible for this area and is to be notified of <br /> everything that is placed in this area. <br />
