Attached is the photo I took of violation 302 at the time of
inspection,for your reference.
For violation 102:
a. In addition to providing a hazardous waste determination for the cardboard contaminated with chemicals,
please also provide a hazardous waste determination for the following damaged leaky items and/or waste found
in the warehouse at the time of inspection:
- Tide powder laundry detergent
- Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner
- Damaged leaky laundry detergent, blue in color
- Spill of unknown purple liquid
At the time of inspection, Cameron Burke, an employee who oversees the salvaging area in the warehouse,
stated that damaged leaky chemical items that cannot be salvaged are disposed of in the trash, without first
making a hazardous waste determination. To correct this issue submit a corrective action statement
documenting how hazardous waste determinations will be made, moving forward, for damaged leaky chemical
items that cannot be salvaged, including any spills or contaminated cardboard resulting from the
damage/mishandling of such items.
b. Does the haz waste profile you provided apply to the wastes in the Blow Down Booth sump, in the battery
charging area drain, in the out-of-service battery wash rack, and in the poly tank and connected equipment?
Please provide disposal records for the wastes found in these areas.
c. Provide the hazardous waste determination for the parts washer waste, once available.
d. Do you know what the filters at the blow down booth are being used for? What is getting caught in the filter?
To answer your question regarding labeling waste that has yet to be given a hazardous waste determination, I have seen
clean-up companies label waste as "Waste Pending Analysis," along with the name and address of the generator, the
contents/composition,the physical state, and the accumulation start date.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Elianna Florido, REHS
