3.0 Response Actions Version :27.10.4 <br /> NOTE: See Appendix F for Disposal Plan. <br /> First Aid Procedure - Emergency Decontamination <br /> If Life Threatening: <br /> a. Provide medical attention to stabilize injured workers before decontamination in Life- <br /> Threatening situations. <br /> b. Ensure that personnel administering medical assistance are dressed in rubber boots, eye <br /> protection, rubber gloves and respirator <br /> c. All efforts should be made to decontaminate the injured person prior to placement in an <br /> ambulance or evacuation vehicle, so long as decontamination does not interfere with the life <br /> saving process. <br /> d. Place the injured contaminated worker only in areas covered by plastic sheeting, including <br /> the inside of the ambulance or evacuation vehicle. <br /> e. Notify the hospital of the delivery of a contaminated, injured patient so it can take special <br /> contamination prevention precautions. <br /> If Non-Life Threatening: <br /> a. Perform decontamination on all injured workers in a Non-Life Threatening situation before <br /> administering medical attention. <br /> Decontamination Team <br /> Responsibilities <br /> • Pre-Plan for decontamination <br /> • Set up the decontamination facility <br /> . Prepare the chemical decon solutions <br /> . Decontaminate each responder <br /> . Dispose of clothing, equipment, chemical rinse <br /> . Clean and restore all decon equipment at the end of activities <br /> • Decontaminate each team member prior to leaving the decon area. <br /> . Collect and manage wastes generated <br /> At Least PPE Level "C" Protection <br /> • Each team member must wear at least level "C" PPE protection: <br /> Coveralls <br /> Rubber boots <br /> Splash goggles <br /> Gloves (Elbow Length) <br /> Full face respirator <br /> .
