Within the site the concerns are <br /> penetration into marshy areas,woody cover, riprap, and animal and invertebrate burrows in levees, islands and uplands. <br /> HAZARDS and RESTRICTIONS: <br /> Aerial traffic beware of power wires. Regarding boat handling, beware of underground pipe crossing, shallows, snags and <br /> mud bars. Slips,trips and falls. <br /> SITE STRATEGIES <br /> Strategy 2-018.1 Objective: Exclude/Contain boom at San Joaquin River(upstream) east end. <br /> Set boom across slough mouth. Anchor one boom end near downstream riprap bank. Anchor upstream boom <br /> end upriver(SJR) past forested tip and to shore across mud shallows, leaving a trailing boom length to maintain <br /> seal during tidal vacillations. If spill is in slough, skim at riprap closure. Back with sorbent. Land-based <br /> deployment. <br /> Strategy 2-018.2 Objective: Exclude/Contain boom at mouth on Deep Water Channel (downstream/east end) <br /> Anchor boom across from just inside of mouth on Rough and Ready across to opposite shore (Roberts Island). <br /> Leave trailing boom ends to promote sealing during tidal flux. Back with sorbent boom. Also <br /> access via Navy property(USN ROUGH &READY ISL). 1-5 to Charter Way to Rough &Ready Naval Station (Rough& <br /> Ready Island access only by approval of USN). By boat accessible from SJ Deep Water Channel to south from marker R42 <br /> or from SJR end 1 mile S of Port. From mouth on Stockton Deep Water Channel (at R 42 opposite Calaveras River mouth), <br /> about 3 miles to mouth on San Joaquin River about 1 mile south of Port of Stockton. It is bordered by Rough &Ready <br /> Island on its NE shoreline. <br /> LAND ACCESS: LEVEE ROADS GOOD EXCEPT WHEN WET <br /> WATER LOGISTICS: SHALLOWS AND SNAGS <br /> Limitations:depth,obstruction <br /> Launching, Loading, Docking Stockton harbor area marina facilities have all services. <br /> and Services Available: <br /> FACLITIES,STAGING AREAS,POSSIBLE FIELD POSTS AND EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE: <br /> With Navy approval Rough and Ready Island is a secure deployment site.Adjacent levees should be adequate as long as <br /> roads are passable.
