Regarding boat handling, beware of shallows, snags and mud bars.
Poison Oak.
SITE STRATEGIES
Strategy 2-021.1 Objective: Exclusion/Containment booming at mouth to prevent entering or leaving the slough
mouth: Stop oil entry on incoming tide or oil escapement if originating within slough.
Set boom across slough mouth. Anchor one boom end near downstream riprap bank. Anchor upstream boom
end to forested tip, leaving a trailing boom length to maintain seal during tidal change. Add 1 mid boom anchor tc
maintain best deflection angle. Skim at riprap closure if spill is in slough.
Strategy 2-021.2 Objective: deflection to collection away from slough to opposite side of San Joaquin River
when oil is coming down-river from upstream.
Anchor boom diagonally upstream 100'+from mouth diagonally downstream and across the San Joaquin River
to west side riprap levee (shallows). Skimming (Shore-Side Skimming) collection on west side. Be prepared to
close mouth with additional boom if oil escapes. A backup deployment with equal equipment may be necessary.
Use 50ft of Oil Snare (OS), 100ft of sorbent boom to collect any oil that may accumulate. Contact IC if oil
accumulates in skimmable quantities.
Strategy 2-021.3 Objective: Oil Recovery by skimming
Deploy skimmer if oil accumulates in skimmable quantities. Consult with IC prior to initiating this strategy.
Table of Response Resources
strategy harbor swamp Other sorb Anchoring Boom Skiffs Skimmers Special Equipment or comment staff Staff
number boom boom boom type boom no tvoe and aear boat punts No Type No and kinds deploy tend
2-021.1 0 500 500 3 3/25/DANFORTH 0 1 possible land-based skimmer 2
2-021.2 0 300 50 OS 300 2 2/25/DANFORTH 0 1 2
2-021.3 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 SSS 0
LOGISTICS
DIRECTIONS:to site(by land and/or by water,to nearest launch ramp and are access permits required.)
Levee roads border this site on north south and west.
