SaLety P <br /> Oil Recovery <br /> Used oil can be found within the compressors of appliances including refrigerators and air <br /> conditioners, you can also find used oil in Gear Boxes from clothes washers. It is important to recover <br /> all the oil from the appliances, do to the oil being a Fire hazard. <br /> Compressor Removal and Oil Extraction <br /> Step 1. The refrigerant must be reclaimed before attempting to remove the compressor or else <br /> the refrigerant will escape to the atmosphere. <br /> Step2. The next thing you do is cut all the the refrigerant copper lines coming from the <br /> compressor and removing any electrical wires connected to the compressor. <br /> Step 3. Ones the compressor is free from all pipes and wire you can remove the fasteners <br /> connecting the compressor to the unit. <br /> Step 4. Unable to get the oil out of the compressor you will have to drill a hole in the <br /> compressor and drain it into a storage container. <br /> Transmission/Gear Box Removal and Oil Extraction <br /> Step 1. Locate the Transmission/Gear Box on the washer. <br /> Step 2. Start the tare down of the washer machine to allow the removal of the <br /> Transmission/Gear Box.You will need to remove the Motor, Plastic Tub, and Metal Tub to <br /> allow the Transmission/Gear Box to be released. <br /> Step 3. Ones the Transmission/Gear Box is released you will have to drill into or open the top of <br /> the Transmission/Gear Box, then let the oil drip into the Oil Container. <br /> Step 4. Ones all the oil has dripped out of the Transmission/Gear Box you can put the metal <br /> casing into the scrap metal container and can take it to get recycled. <br />
