towel. Put paper towel in a Zip Locking bag and label it.
Step 5. Use shaving cream on top of a small brush and gently"Dot"the affected area to pick up any
hard to see mercury beads. Ones done put brush inside a zip locking bag and label it.
Step 6. Optional Step: Use commercially available Powdered Sulfur to absorb the beads that are too
small to see, it also makes the mercury easier to see since there may be a color change from
yellow to brown, and it binds the mercury so that it can be easily removed and suppresses the
Vapor of any missing mercury.
Step 7. Place all material and equipment used in a trash bag. Place all Mercury Beads and objects into
the trash bag. Place the trash bag outside in a secure are and label it.
Step 8. To complete the clean up the spill area must be ventilated to the outside for at least 24 hours.
Contact your local health department or Fire Department to find out how to conduct proper
disposal of the mercury spill.
Labeling and Accumulation time
All MRSH material is stored in 55 gallon drums with a locking lid, all containers are labeled
and kept closed at all times. The Labeling consist of Our information such as our address, the content
inside the drum and the accumulation start date.Accumulation for MRSH material is I year. For NON-
MRSH material like Used Oil it is only 180 Days accumulation period, Meaning Used Oil will be
recycled 2 times a Year. We keep Eye wash solutions next to this containers in case of accidental
exposure. We also keep Spill Kits near storage in case of any leaks. Law states that we can only keep
MRSH Material stored for one year. We only store MRSH material for that period of time, unless we
reach a full capacity in our containers in witch case we will recycle MRSH Material as needed. The
count amount of appliance we recycle has grown less and less this past years, witch impacts the amount
of MRSH material we generate.
In Case of Emer a ncy
In case of Emergency we have a Hazardous Waste Emergency Information, that has The
Emergency Coordinator and Alternate Emergency coordinators name and phone number. It also
contains a list of all the locations of the Fire extinguishers. We have also listed the locations of the Spill
Kits. Also we have the direct phone number of the Fire Department.
