Peters, Jr. —Sr. Director- Environmental, Health & Safety <br /> 1.0 PURPOSE <br /> The purpose of the Hazardous Waste Management Standard is to ensure the proper handling, <br /> accumulation, and disposal of Hazardous Waste generated by HD Supply Locations and Workplaces. <br /> 2.0 SCOPE <br /> This Standard applies to all HD Supply Locations and Workplaces in the U.S. <br /> 3.0 DEFINITIONS <br /> 3.1 Accumulation Container(Container)—Approved Hazardous Waste container(e.g., 55-gallon <br /> metal drum, 14-gallon poly drum, 5-gallon (18 liter) plastic bucket, or metal flip-top can) used <br /> for the purpose of accumulating Hazardous Waste until such time as it is transported for <br /> disposal. <br /> 3.2 Acutely Hazardous Waste—A Hazardous Waste that is fatal to humans or animals in low <br /> doses or can cause or contribute to an increase in serious irreversible, or incapacitating, <br /> reversible illness. <br /> 3.3 Affected Associate— For the purpose of this Standard any HD Supply associate who has <br /> potential to be in the vicinity of, manages, handles, uses, or is otherwise potentially exposed <br /> to Hazardous Materials or Hazardous Waste. <br /> 3.4 Approved Hazardous Waste Transporter— EHS-approved, licensed vendor who is under <br /> contract with HD Supply to prepare for transportation and to transport Hazardous Waste from <br /> the HD Supply Locations. <br /> 3.5 Approved Waste Tire Haulers—A company(California only)that is registered in California to <br /> transport used or waste tires for recycling. This includes lift equipment service vendors such <br /> as Yale and Toyota. <br /> 3.6 Bill of Lading— Required document that must accompany each shipment of Universal Waste, <br /> Special Waste, or Non-Hazardous Waste to provide tracking and disposal information. <br /> 3.7 Business—One of the HD Supply businesses. <br /> 3.8 Central Accumulation Area (CAA)—A primary designated area within a Location where <br /> Hazardous Waste is accumulated until such time as the Approved Hazardous Waste <br /> Transporter properly removes the Hazardous Waste. <br /> 3.9 Co-Generated Waste (or Co-Generation)— Hazardous Waste that is generated at an HD <br /> Supply Location by a process involving a Contractor such as painting, changing lighting at the <br /> Location, cleaning and janitorial activities, servicing lift equipment and vehicles, etc. <br /> 3.10 Contingency Plan —A written plan required by the EPA for Large Quantity Generators (LQG) <br /> only that describes how a Location will respond to a release of Hazardous Waste such as a <br /> spill or other emergency. <br /> Any printed copy of this document is an uncontrolled document.
