KLE/NFELOER
Bright People.Right Solutions.
4 SITE AND SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS
4.1 SURFACE CONDITIONS
The project site is located south of the intersection of B Street and Earhart Avenue in Stockton,
California, and within the Stockton Metropolitan Airport (SCK). North of the project site is San
Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner office building. East of the proposed improvements is
the airport cargo apron and Amazon receiving facility. Currently the site is undeveloped with little
vegetation ground cover.
4.2 SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS
The subsurface conditions described herein are based on the conditions encountered during the
geotechnical investigation at the project site. Two to three feet of undocumented fill consisting of
moderately to highly plastic clay was encountered in borings B-3, B-5, B-6 and boring B-9. The
fill was generally hard with pockets of stiff soil. The native materials on site generally consisted of
very stiff to hard, moderately to highly plastic clay in the upper 5 below ground surface. These
soils were generally underlain by stiff to hard moderately plastic clay with lenses of dense poorly
to well graded sand and clayey sand to the maximum depth explored of about 31'/2 feet below
present ground surface.
The above is a general description of the subsurface conditions encountered at the site during
our geotechnical engineering investigation. For a more detailed description of the subsurface
conditions encountered in our subsurface exploration points, refer to the boring and test pit logs
in Appendix A.
4.3 GROUNDWATER
Groundwater was not encountered during the field investigation within any of our borings drilled
to a maximum depth of approximately 31'/2 feet below the existing ground surface. Groundwater
data presented on the California Department of Water Resources Water Data Library website'
and our experience indicate that groundwater levels in the project area are usually greater than
http://wdl.water.ca.gov/waterdatalibrary/
20210067.001A/ST020R111447 Page 8 of 37 May 11, 2020
©2020 Kleinfelder www.kleinfelder.com
