PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br /> A minimum of US EPA Level D protection will be required within the exclusion zone for any workers engaged <br /> in sample collection or other similar activities. Level D protection will include: <br /> 1. Hardhat (optional, no moving overhead equipment). <br /> 2. Boots with steel toe. <br /> 3. Chemical resistent disposable gloves (when handling materials with elevated levels of petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons). <br /> 4. Disposable Tyvek® coverall (when in direct contact with materials containing elevated levels of <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons). <br /> Level C protection will be required if OVM readings exceed 50 PPM in the worker's breathing zone. Level C <br /> protection will consist of: <br /> 1. Hardhat (optional, no moving overhead equipment). <br /> 2. Boots with steel toe. <br /> 3. Disposable Tyveks coverall. <br /> 4. Safety glasses, splash goggles, or face shield. <br /> 5. Chemical resistent inner and outer gloves. <br /> 6. MSHA/NIOSH-approved half-face or full-face air-purifying respirator with organic vapor cartridges. <br /> If the OVM readings exceed 200 PPM in the workers breathing zone, all work shall stop and the exclusion <br /> zone shall be evacuated. <br /> DECONTAMINATION <br /> During all field operations, care will be taken to minimize contact with soils containing elevated levels of <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons. When leaving the exclusion zone, loose debris will be removed from protective <br /> clothing by brushing or rinsing. Gloves and boots will be washed in a 5% solution of trisodium phosphate <br /> detergent or Alconox and rinsed with clean potable water. All rinsate will be disposed of after laboratory <br /> results are received. All used respirator cartridges, inner gloves and coveralls will be placed in a drum on- <br /> site for subsequent disposal.
