0 0
Tattoo After Care Instructions
A) Always wash your hands before handling your tattoo.
Throughout your day you put your hands on all kinds of things; door knobs, phones, computer
keyboards, moneys, ect.None of these surfaces or items are clean. All of these things carry
bacteria that you can easily transfer to your brand new tattoo by not washing your hand properly
prior to touching it.Your new tattoo is a minor wound, and can act as a portal for bacteria and
viruses.
B) Keep your tattoo wrapped for at least 2 -4 hours.
(You may leave your tattoo wrapped up for as long as 6 hours if necessary until you
get to a clean environment).
Your tattoo needs time to begin the healing process. The bandage helps protect the tattoo as it
starts the initial healing. You want to wait until you get into a clean environment to unwrap it so
you don't introduce any bacteria into your fresh tattoo;"the bathroom at your favorite bar does
not count as a"clean environment".You do not want to leave your tattoo wrapped for longer than
6 hours because the tattoo needs to breathe and get fresh air to start healing.
Q After removing the bandage, wash your tattoo ggulk with Antibacterial Soap
(preferably Dial/Soft soap non fragrance).DO NOT SCRUB YOUR TATTOO. Let
your tattoo air dry for 30—45 minutes.
Washing your tattoo gets the extra plasma(blood)that has accumulated under the bandage.
Washing your tattoo helps in prevention of any infection. Wash your tattoo under lukewarm to
warm water.Do not leave your tattoo under the water for a lengthy time.
D) After washing, pat dry and apply Aquaphor or Aquatat to your new tattoo. Then
cover with another piece of(Saran Wrap) Plastic wrap,non-adhesive or non-
abrasive wrap,Continue steps C & D 3-4 times a day,for the first 72 hours.
The Aquaphor or Aquatat helps to keep the tattoo moist and prevents it from drying out and
scabbing. If you allow the tattoo to dry out,you risk the chance of the tattoo building a heavy
scab which can prolong the healing process and can ultimately effect the overall fimal look of the
tattoo.Apply a light coat of Aquaphor or Aquatat to your tattoo and spread.Don't put it on very
thick. Whenever the tattoo feels dry, itchy,or the skin feels tight; it's probably a good time to
moisturize.More light coats are better than a few heavy ones.Lighter coats allow the tattoo to be
able to continue breathing while remaining moist.
E) Then continue without the wrap for the remaining 2 weeks. After about 2 weeks you
can use regular fragrance free lotion on your tattoo.Suggest,-Lubriderm or curet
lotion.
Note: For longer lasting color it is recommended top p'-ly lotion
andlor sunscreen daily to your tattoo after it is healed Remember,
your tattoo healing correctly is YOUR responsibility!
