PIERCING AFTERCARE
A. The aftercare for all body piercing (except oral piercing) is generally the same. This
applies to the eyebrow, septum, nostril, navel, nipple, all ear piercing and genital and
genitalia piercing, surface piercing and micro dermals (single point piercing and other
piercing where the jewelry does not go inside of the mouth. We recommend that you use
sterile saline solution for all of these piercing. Simply apply the solution to a q-tip and
gently rub the piercing and jewelry 3-6 times a day for 3 weeks. When showering or
bathing do not use body wash, bar soap, shampoo or any other scented product on or near
the piercing, you may wash your piercing with gentile, fragrance free antibacterial liquid
soap.
B. The aftercare for oral piercing is much different and requires more attention. The
aftercare is as fallows, for the tongue, tongue web, smiley, frowney and all piercing that
are limited to just inside of the mouth you will need an alcohol free mouthwash that
promotes oral healing. Some brands of mouthwash just freshen breath and don nothing to
promote healing. We recommend that you rinse your mouth for at least 30 seconds daily
after any consumption of food or drinks (excluding water). If you have a oral piercing that
starts inside the mouth and goes through the skin to the outside of your mouth/face (lip,
cheek, Monroe, medusa, Ashley, labret, etc..) you will need to use both sets of aftercare
instruction on this page noted A. and B.
If at any time you start to notice dark discharge coming from the piercing, dark
discoloration of the skin or black/red lines leading towards the heart, remove the piercing
and contact a doctor immediately. During the healing process a little redness and
irritation around the piercing site is typical. You may also notice off white/yellowish
discharge around the piercing during the healing process. This too is not unusual. If after
4 weeks your piercing has not improved please consult your body piercer or doctor.
Do not take out or change your jewelry until the piercing is healed. Piercing can take
several months to completely heal and will close immediately if jewelry is removed
before healing.
Do not touch your piercing without first washing your hands.
Do not use alcohol, peroxide, to clean your piercing.
Do not use petroleum based products such as Neosporin, Vaseline etc..
Do not get into swimming pools, or hot tubs until your piercing is healed. Also avoid
activities that would expose your piercing to large amounts of dirt, hazardous materials,
chemicals, body fluids or direct sunlight until the piercing is healed.
