All staff will be informed and trained to notify Environmental Services for <br />response to hazardous materials and waste spills, exce t for the following <br />departments: <br />• Engineering Department <br />• Grounds Maintenance <br />• Surgery Department (OR) <br />• Gastroenterology Department (GI) <br />• Oncology Pharmacy Department <br />• Oncology Department <br />• Laboratory <br />• Pathology <br />IE AL HEALTH <br />F/SERVICES <br />1.2. The Environmental Services, (EVS), Engineering, Grounds Maintenance, <br />Surgery, GI, Laboratory, Pathology, Oncology Pharmacy and Oncology <br />departments are properly trained and primarily responsible for "first response" at <br />the awareness level. Only trained staff is permitted to clean spills. First <br />response at the awareness level includes primary identification, isolation, <br />containment, neutralization (when possible) and appropriate initial clean up <br />procedures based on the type and amount of chemical, level of risk, time of <br />day/week, and whether or not personal injury has occurred. <br />2. Purpose: <br />2.1.
