L] <br />ANESTHETIC AGENTS <br />Step <br />Action <br />Isolate, Evacuate, and <br />Isolate spill area. Evacuate everyone from the area surrounding <br />Secure area <br />spill; except for those responsible with the spill clean up. <br />PPE <br />If not already worn, put on personal protective equipment. <br />Contain Spill <br />Stop source, if possible. <br />Confine Spill <br />Confine spill to initial spill area using appropriate control <br />equipment and material. Ventilate area of spill or leak <br />Neutralize Spill <br />Slowly Apply A PHO -MAG Neutralizer to spilled material (start <br />at perimeter and work inwards). Mix spill cleanup product with <br />spill kit paddle or shovel until liquid is solidified. Allow solidified <br />material to cool until neutralization is complete. Check pH with <br />pH Paper Test Kit. When neutralized to a pH of 7, proceed to <br />cleanup. <br />Spill Area Cleanup <br />Absorb spill using absorbent for organic chemical (vermiculite, <br />spill pillows, etc.). Collect absorbent in sealed containers. Avoid <br />evaporation of anesthetic agents. <br />• Spill Waste: Scoop up absorbent, pads, pillows and other <br />disposable materials used to clean up the spill and put them <br />into a leak proof container. Label the container with name of <br />hazardous material. <br />• Reusable Spill Supplies: Collect reusable spill supplies wipe <br />Fix Set -Up <br />surfaces clean so they are free of visible contamination. Put <br />into separate container for equipment that will be thoroughly <br />washed with detergent and water. <br />Disposal Procedure <br />Important: Contact EH&S for appropriate waste determination <br />and proper disposal. <br />Reporting <br />Follow appropriate s ill notification procedures. <br />Safety Management Program 4. <br />Attachment EC.HZ.056A <br />
