SAFETY MANAGEMENOGRAM LICY/PROCEDURE MOUAL <br />TITLE: HAZARDOUS WASTE CONTINGENCY PLAN <br />PAGE 7 OF 14 <br />Manager/supervisor or employee involved with the spill is to immediately <br />call the service line to report an emergency size spill and indicate the <br />hazardous material involved, location, and an estimate of the amount <br />spilled. An operator will then notify the Clinical Coordinator. <br />The Clinical Coordinator will follow the administrative policy <br />and procedure on Emergency Incident Command and will <br />confer with the Safety Professional as necessary to activate the <br />External Response Team <br />If the spilled material is flammable, all ignition sources will be <br />immediately turned off. <br />In the event of personal injury, any injured employee should immediately <br />report to the Employee Health or Urgent Care Department. Visitors or <br />members are to report to Urgent Care. The Material Safety Data Sheet <br />for the spilled hazardous material should be sent with the employee. <br />If the spill is an incidental (small) quantity, trained personnel from the <br />department involved with the spill will identify the material, isolate the <br />spill, neutralize the material, and contain and proceed to clean up the spill <br />using department spill materials. <br />Departmental staff shall not respond with "Emergency spill response" off - <br />hours unless they have received appropriate hazardous materials training. <br />All other procedures will be followed as written for regular response <br />during normal working hours. <br />Spills involving soil/water contamination. <br />When possible, all hazardous spills shall be contained and diked to prevent <br />possible contamination of ground water, soil, and sewer systems. <br />In the event a hazardous waste spill should get into the sanitary sewer <br />system, immediate action should be taken to stop further contamination. <br />The local SPW shall be notified immediately for corrective action: <br />City of Stockton Public works (209) 937-8341 <br />After 5:00 p.m.: (209) 937-8341 <br />Fresno Revision dates: 09/12/96, 6/25/98, 3/30/00, 8/l/01,Stockton revision date 07/22/02, <br />09/19/02, 3/20/03,02/12/04, 07/06 <br />
