Do you have tracking documents for all medical waste handled at your facility? <br />All medical waste generators are required to keep accurate records regarding <br />containment, storage, hauling, treatment and disposal. All medical waste records <br />are to be maintained and available for 3 years. <br />Kaiser Permanente Stockton tracks documents for all medical waste handle at our <br />facility that includes containment, storage, hauling, treatment and disposal. All the <br />medical waste records are kept and available for 3 years. <br />h. Describe your medical waste emergency action plan, including procedures for <br />handling spill, exposures, equipment failures, etc. <br />Purpose of the Kaiser Permanente Stockton medical waste emergency action plan <br />is to assure that all medical waste is properly handled to eliminate exposure of the <br />public to possible disease -causing agents which may be present in this type of <br />waste. To Minimize the human contact with potentially infectious materials, <br />waste devices and instruments by ensuring the safe packaging, storage, treatment <br />and disposal of medical waste. <br />All spills are to be reported to the Environmental Services department for proper <br />clean-up. Spills must be cleaned up immediately by a properly trained person <br />using appropriate personal protective equipment in relation to the spill. <br />Spray the spill area with a gainW& The disinfectant should be sprayed <br />thoroughly over the spilled material. Spraying directly onto or into the spill will <br />disturb as well as spread the material. <br />Contain the spill by placing absorbent material, disposable towels. Etc. <br />Once the material is contained, it is to be placed into red bags to identify it as <br />hazardous waste. If sharps are involved; these are to be place into sharps <br />containers for disposal. <br />After all the material is pick up and properly double bagged, the contaminated <br />area should them be wet wiped or mopped with a fresh solution of germicide. <br />Once the are is dry, the barricade, wet floor sing may be removed. <br />All liquid waste such as the mop water, rinse water shall be deposited into the <br />sanitary sewer, then the containers and sink shall be sprayed with germicide <br />solution and allowed to air dry. <br />All Personal protective equipment used in the clean-up shall be discarded if <br />disposable are used. <br />
