• <br /> Medical Waste Management Plan <br /> Kaiser Permanente — Tracy Medical Office Building <br /> 1/01/11-12/31/11 <br /> • Approved methods of decontamination include, but are not limited to, <br /> agitation to remove visible soil combined with one of the following <br /> procedures: <br /> (a) Exposure to hot water of at least 82 degrees Centigrade(180 degrees <br /> Fahrenheit) for a minimum of 15 seconds. <br /> (b) Exposure to chemical sanitizer by rinsing with, or immersion in, one of the <br /> following for a minimum of three minutes: <br /> (1)Hypochlorite solution (500 ppm available chlorine). <br /> (2) Phenolic solution(500 ppm active agent). <br /> (3)Iodoform solution (100 ppm available iodine). <br /> (4) Quaternary ammonium solution(400 ppm active agent). <br /> (5) Pure Chlorine(500 ppm), Dilution of 5ml in 100 ml of water. <br /> The following materials are classified as Labeling Procedures <br /> medicallbiohazardous waste. <br /> Sharps Waste-Any discarded device that was used in patient "Sharps Waste", or the <br /> care, medical research, or an industrial laboratory and is Biohazard symbol and <br /> capable of puncturing or cutting the skin. Examples include: the word <br /> needles; syringes with needles attached: trocars; pipettes; "BIOHAZARD" <br /> scalpel blades; blood vials; broken or unbroken glassware that Label is placed on the <br /> has been in contact with infectious agents, including serum lid and on the sides, so <br /> bottles, slides, and cover slips. as to be visible from <br /> any lateral direction <br /> Pathological Waste- Human or animal surgery specimens, Marked "Pathology <br /> tissues, or body parts removed during surgery, autopsy, or Waste"with the <br /> other medical procedures. Biohazard Symbol, <br /> Label is placed on the <br /> lid and on the sides, so <br /> as to be visible from <br /> any lateral direction <br /> and lid <br /> Human blood, blood products, body fluids—Discarded <br /> free-flowing human blood and blood products(e.g. plasma Marked with the <br /> serum), any free-flowing body secretion containing blood Biohazard Symbol and <br /> components(e.g. pleural , peritoneal, amniotic fluids), and any "BIOHAZARD`" <br /> other fluid visibly contaminated with blood.
