Stockton Surgery Center <br />Facilities & Environment Manual <br />Section: Hazardous Materials <br />Title: Right To Know Law <br />Policy # <br />OBJECTIVE <br />To outline key provisions of the Right to Know Law <br />POLICY <br />The Right To Know Law informs employees of their right: <br />To personally receive information regarding hazardous substances to which they may be exposed. <br />2. For their personal physician to receive information regarding hazardous substances to which the <br />employee may have been exposed. <br />3, Against discharge or other discrimination due to the employee's exercise of the rights pursuant to <br />this Act. <br />PROCEDURE <br />The Safety Officer / Safety Committee: <br />1. Will ensure all chemical substances be checked against the Hazardous Substances List Non- <br />hazardous materials will be substituted for hazardous whenever possible. <br />2. Will establish and maintain Material Safety Data Sheets when a chemical substance is received. <br />3. Will follow written procedures for safe handling and storage of chemicals. <br />4. Will follow written procedures for safe and appropriate disposal of chemicals. <br />5. Will inform employees required to use the substance of the hazards, teach how to safely use the <br />substance, show the Material Safety Data Sheet, and where it can be located for reference, and <br />will document and maintain the in-service training. <br />6.
