SAFETY FIRST <br />* Assess the hazards of the situation. <br />* Keep people away from the scene. <br />* Avoid contact with the spilled substance, do not inhale any gases, fumes, or smoke. <br />2. IDENTIFICATION <br />* Approach with caution, up wind if outside <br />* If known chemical, refer to MSDS <br />* If unknown chemical, attempt to identify the material by asking staff or locating label, etc. <br />* If unable to identify chemical or its hazard classification treat material as a <br />flammable/corrosive. <br />3. CONTAINMENT <br />* If spill is outside building, build dams or dikes with absorbent blankets to prevent entry of <br />spilled chemical into storm drains. <br />* If spill is inside building, use absorbent blankets or granules to prevent spilled liquids from <br />seeping under cabinets or equipment and into drains. <br />4. STOP THE SPILL SOURCE <br />* Close valves, plug leaks, and upright the spilled container if possible. <br />5.
