0 0 <br />' <br />_71IN 81 Ila N <br />In the event of a spill of bio -hazard waste during pick-up or transport, the following <br />procedures will be provided. <br />A. Bio -hazard <br />1. Re -bag any spilled waste into a red bag. <br />2. Use vinyl or latex gloves. <br />3. Use tongs or a dust pan to pick up waste. This is to prevent possible sticks <br />from sharps that may have been improperly disposed of. <br />4. Secure bag with tape or tie off. <br />5. Disinfect floor area where spill occurred. <br />6. Wash hands. <br />7. Notify your manager. <br />B. Sharps container spills. <br />1. Use tons or a dust pan to pick up sharps. Do Not use your hands even with <br />gloves on. <br />2. Place sharps in sharps container, do not over fill. <br />3. Close lid securely, tape lid if necessary. <br />4. Place sharps container in a lined box. <br />5. Wash hands <br />6. Notify the manager. <br />C. Blood Spills. <br />Spills of blood or other body fluids will be cleaned using a tuberculocidal <br />disinfectant as recommended by CDC guidelines. <br />1. Wear Gloves <br />2. Remove bulk spill with paper towels or other disposable absorbent material. <br />3. The area should then be sprayed and wiped with 3M 23H quat disinfectant or <br />freshly prepared solution of bleach diluted to 1:10 with water. <br />4. Dry the area with paper towels to prevent slips or falls. <br />S. Place clean-up material in teh bio -hazard trash receptacle. <br />6. Wash your hands. <br />7. Notify your manager. <br />
