If the graph doesn't show the appropriate temperature and <br />minutes cooked the load must be run again. <br />a. Check the nut and ink marker on the graph to assure <br />its on appropriately. <br />b. Check all valves and then notify Engineering Dept. <br />C. Never place any waste from the autoclave into the <br />solid waste compactor if there is any doubt it's been <br />sterilized. If in doubt place into contracted containers <br />within the fenced area and the hauler will remove per <br />our contract. <br />III Sterilizer Unit Operation <br />A. Obtain Keys for unit from the Basement Janitors Room. <br />B. Do not attempt to open door of unit unless the pressure gauge has <br />no reading indicated. <br />When the door of the unit is safe to open the pressure gauge will drop to <br />"O" (zero). Always check this gauge first and proceed when safe. <br />1. Unlock the padlock and move the chain out of the locked position. <br />Do not remove lock and chain away from unit. <br />2. Stand away from the unit to allow the safe release of any steam that <br />may be inside the unit and lift the locking latch at the top. <br />3. Turn the arrow knob on the unit handle to the up position. Move the <br />handle up and down until the door releases. <br />4. Open door. Fasten the door open with the hook attached to the back <br />wall to prevent the door from closing on you. <br />C. Holding drawer: <br />I . To open drawer, place the rails down, check for proper alignment. <br />When aligned, pull the drawer out. <br />2. To close, push the drawer back into the unit, lift rails, unlock door <br />from the wall. <br />D. When filling the sterilizing unit, the drawer must not be filled beyond 75% <br />maximum capacity for processing of each load. Never overload! <br />1. The bags must be closed securely with a twister or tied into a knot <br />before placement inside the unit. <br />2. The contents of each bag will not exceed 50% fluid as a total volume. <br />
