Turn the arrow knob on the autoclave handle to the down position. 2. Move the handle up and down until the door is closed well. Do not force with strength. 3. When initially closing the door, place your hand on the door handle and push lightly. 4. When closed close the locking lever at the top. F. Open the door to the graph chart and record the date , time, and initials prior to activating the processing cycle. This is required for each time unit is placed into operation and a load is run. G. To activate the processing cycle, place the key into the switch and turn it to start. The key will automatically return to the start position. Remove the key from the switch and return it to the janitors room immediately. IV. Emergency Stop Button Located near the switch is a RED button for use to stop the cycle in emergency situations only. V. Removal of Sterilized Waste for Compaction/Disposal A. Obtain keys for the unit from the Basement Janitors Room. B. Do not attempt to open door of unit unless the pressure gauge has no reading indicated. Always check the gauge first to make sure it is at "O" (zero). 1. Check the graph to assure the load has cooked at the right temperature and for the proper length of time. 2. Unlock the padlock and move the chain out of the locked position. Do not remove lock and chain away from the unit. 3. Stand away from the unit to allow the safe release of any steam that may be inside and lift the locking latch at the top. 4. Turn the arrow knob on the unit handle to the up position. Move the handle up and down until the door releases. 5. Open door carefully watching for the possibility of additional steam to escape. Fasten the door open to the hook attached to the wall to prevent the door from closing on you.
