Be sure to wear waterproof -heat resistant gloves while opening <br />unit or handling the bags at completion of cycle as there could be <br />sufficient heat to cause burns. Gloves are by the unit. <br />D. Holding drawer <br />1. To open, place the rails down. Check for proper alignment. <br />When aligned, pull the drawer out. <br />a. When removing the bags from the unit, hold them away <br />from your body to prevent any hot liquids from burning <br />you while moving bags to the compactor. <br />2. To close, push the drawer back into the unit, lift rails, unhook <br />door latch from the wall. <br />E. When closing the unit door: <br />1. Turn the arrow knob on the handle to the down position. <br />2. Move the handle up and down until the door is closed well. <br />Do not force with strength. <br />3. When initially closing the door, place your hand on the door <br />handle and push lightly. <br />4. When closed, close the locking lever at the top. <br />F. Return the chain and padlock to the locked position on the door. The <br />key must be returned to the Basement Janitors Room. <br />G. Leave the gloves at the sterilizer site and clean the area by using the water <br />hose located at the end of the sterilizer to wash down any liquids that <br />may spill while unloading bags. The dock and sterilizer tray/drawer must <br />be hosed down to keep the area clean after each use. <br />VI. Responsibilities <br />A. Environmental Service staff are responsible to report to Engineering any <br />problems or unusual conditions found regarding the sterilizing unit. <br />B. Engineering shall be responsible for making repairs. <br />C. Spore testing will be processed on a monthly basis by the Environmental <br />Service Supervisor and the Lab will process all tests and results will be <br />documented and sent to the Environmental Service Office. <br />
