• {
RESEARCH BUSLETIN
AdAINST, MANY,111POPIVILM.,VIRUSES.",
TOR diluted 1:64 inactivated four test viruses which are representative of four families of lipophilic
viruses.
ORGANISMS: Influenza A2/Hong Kong Adenovirus Type 2
Herpes Simplex
Vaccinia
PROCEDURES: One tenth ml of test virus was added to 0.9 ml of TOR diluted 1:64 and exposed
for 10 minutes at room temperature. Ten fold serial dilutions were prepared in
suitable diluent from the virus treated with the TOR use dilution. Each of the
serial dilutions containing the treated virus was transferred in triplicate to tissue
cultures for incubation. Inactivation was reported as reduction of treated virus
titer compared with untreated virus titer.
RESULTS: Influenza A2/Hong Kong — Inactivated by a 1:64 dilution of TOR.
Herpes Simplex Type 1 — Inactivated by a 1:64 dilution of TOR.
Vaccinia I —inactivated by a 1:64 dilution of TOR.
Adenovirus Type 2 — Inactivated by a 1:64 dilution of TOR.
CONCLUSIONS: TOR diluted 1:64 inactivated the four test viruses after 10 minutes contact at room
temperature within the limits imposed by the toxicity of the compound to the
tissue cultures.
TOR KILLS ATHLETE'S FOOT FUNGI
Athlete's foot is a widespread affliction and is present in nearly ail institutions. TOR kills athlete's
foot fungi on environmental surfaces at a dilution of 1:64. O
PRODUCT: TOR germicidal detergent
TEST METHOD: A.O.A.C. Fungicidal Test
DILUTION: 1:64
TEST
ORGANISM: Trichophyton interdigitale ATCC No. 9533
SUBCULTURE
MEDIA: Dextrose Broth with Azolectin and Tween 80
INCUBATION: 10 days.at 30'C.
RESULT: The test was run in duplicate. No growth was obtained in the 5, 10 and 15 minute
intervals. The organism passed the Phenol Resistant requirements of the method.
CONCLUSION: When tested by the above procedure, TOR germicidal detergent was found to be
fungicidal at a dilution of 1:64.
0
