PURPOSE <br />The San Joaquin General Hospital Director has established a Medical Waste Management <br />Plan designed and operated in accordance with applicable laws and regulations to identify <br />and control the handling and use of all medical waste within San Joaquin General Hospital. <br />The Medical Waste Management Plan provides a management process that includes all <br />materials and waste that requires special handling in order to address identified <br />occupational and environmental hazards and to protect the safety and welfare of our <br />patients, the general public, and hospital staff. <br />AGENCY MISSION STATEMENT <br />San Joaquin County Health Care Services Agency is dedicated to a philosophy of <br />excellence in providing health services, education, and professional training in an <br />integrated system that values the quality of life, family interaction, and respect for both <br />clients and employees. The Agency is committed to the delivery of community -oriented, <br />culturally sensitive, and affordable health care throughout San Joaquin County. <br />AUTHORITY <br />The Health Care Services Director and the San Joaquin General Hospital Director have <br />designated that the Deputy Director of Support Services shall have the authority to <br />administer and direct the Medical Waste Management Plan. The SJGH Safety Committee <br />shall have overall responsibility for the development and implementation of the Medical <br />Waste Management Plan. The Safety Committee shall receive all reports of hazardous <br />materials, waste monitoring programs and any incident <br />reports generated. The committee shall annually review the effectiveness of the program <br />and determine whether the results of the Medical Waste Management Plan meet with all <br />applicable standards established by law, regulation, and the facility. <br />LOCATION <br />Facility Name: San Joaquin General Hospital <br />Address: 500 W. The complex medical campus consists of a myriad of inpatient and <br />outpatient services. One of the hospital's center of excellence is the maternal -child <br />program. Services provided include a 32 -bed community level (III), neonatal intensive <br />care unit, comprehensive prenatal services, and education programs focused on caring for <br />mother and child.
