. Iv <br />i <br />4. Laundry and Linen Services: <br />A. Nursing Service shall notify the Laundry Department Super- <br />visor, or the person in charge during the supervisor's <br />absence, of the isolation, and that appropriate isolation <br />procedures will need to be implemented. <br />B. A barrel with a lid lined with red plastic bags shall be <br />placed in the isolation room by the Laundry Department. <br />The barrel is marked "Isolation Linen". Isolation linen <br />shall be handled as little and as gently as possible to <br />prevent the spread of infectious disease. <br />C. When the plastic laundry bag is almost full, seal the top <br />of the bag, and place it into a clean plastic bag marked <br />"Isolation" outside the isolation room. The bag shall be <br />picked up by the laundry department. <br />D. The person taking the linen bag to the laundry department <br />should hold the bag away from themselves, and shall not <br />drag the bag along the floor. <br />E. All ISOLATION laundry and linen shall be washed SEPARATELY <br />using disinfectant, as per housekeeping isolation policy. <br />F. All personal clothing shall be laundered by the facility. <br />The patients family SHALL NOT be allowed to take ANY <br />articles from the room, and shall be so instructed by the <br />Charge Nurse. <br />5. Restriction of Visitation: <br />A. All visitors must be instructed on isolation procedures <br />prior to entering the patient's room. <br />B. Visitors shall be instructed on the use of gowns, gloves, <br />mask, etc., as well as the necessity of the isolation. <br />This is the responsibility of the Charge Nurse. <br />C. Any visitor who willfully violates our infection control <br />procedures shall be restricted from visiting the patient <br />until the patient has been removed from isolation, and <br />such restriction shall be noted on the patient's chart <br />and reported to the Director of Nursing and the Admini- <br />strator. <br />D. Visitors shall not be permitted to bring unnecessary ar- <br />ticles into the isolation room, and shall not take any <br />articles from the room when leaving. <br />E. Personal articles of visitors, such a coats, hats, purses, <br />etc., shall be left at the nursing station. <br />F. Visitors shall be instructed why and how to avoid contact <br />with contaminated articles -within the room. <br />G. Visitors shall be instructed to remove the gown INSIDE THE <br />ROOM and that hands must be washed prior to leaving the room. <br />
