The Infection Control Committee will determine the need for periodic <br />cultures of the environment. <br />IY. SECRETIONS AND DRAINAGE <br />At the earliest suspicion of an infection, an attempt will be made to <br />obtain a physician's order for a culture. If this is not possible, the <br />DNS or ICN will make an administrative decision to obtain such a culture. <br />The physician will be informed of the decision to culture and of the <br />results. <br />X. INFECTION CONTROL COMMITTEE <br />It is the policy of this facility to develop, monitor, and revise the <br />Infection Control Program through the Infection Control Committe (des - <br />scribed in IC Committee section) at least annually. <br />XI. DEPARTMENTAL <br />A. Administration: <br />The facility Administrator will be responsible for assuring the <br />implementation of the policy statements pertaining to the various <br />departments. The Administrator will appoint an Infection Control <br />Committee and assure a regular schedule of meetings and effective <br />functioning of the Committee. The Administrator will also be respon- <br />sible for compliance with applicable provisions and will monitor <br />the infection control practices within the facility. <br />B. Nursing Services: <br />Nursing services will be provided in a manner which conforms to <br />currently accepted practices and procedures for the control of the <br />spread of infection. Nursing personnel will adhere to the highest <br />level of personal hygiene and will not provide patient care when <br />Page # I --I <br />
