These are: <br /> 1 . All tissues , specimens or blood elements , <br /> excreta and secretions obtained from patients. <br /> 2. Any disposable product that comes in contact <br /> with the patient. <br /> 3 . Equipment , instruments , utensils and fomites <br /> of a disposable nature , from the rooms of <br /> patients with suspected or diagnosed communicable <br /> disease requiring isolation. <br /> STORAGE : 1 . The designated infectious waste storage area is <br /> located in a separate locked building outside <br /> the rear of the facility . This area is identified <br /> by a red and white sign which reads in English and <br /> 0,A y Spanish : "CAUTION - INFECTIOUS WASTE STORAGE AREA , <br /> re 1,4 UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS KEEP OUT." <br /> U/' �'" <br /> PROCEDURE : 1 . All infectious waste will be put into a red plastic <br /> bag at the bedside as generated. <br /> 2 . It is securely tied and placed in the infectious <br /> waste container in the utility room. <br /> 1 <br />
