Access Number: 4PP.INFC <br />3. All used needles, syringes, and other sharps <br />are to be placed in the "Sharps Collector" <br />provided at each nurses station immediately <br />after use. The disposable "Sharps Collector" <br />is red, rigid puncture resistant container with a <br />special one way opening. Attached to each <br />container is a cap which is used to seal it prior <br />to disposal. This container is labeled "Infectious <br />Waste" and is marked "FILL TO THIS LINE ONLY". <br />It is sealed and replaced every seven days or <br />sooner if sharps reach the fill line. It is placed <br />directly into the infectious waste container located <br />in the locked infectious waste storage area located <br />outside the rear of the facility. <br />4. Two times weekly and as needed the maintenance <br />supervisor will take the containers from the utility <br />room to the locked infectious waste storage area <br />located in the rear • the facility. These <br />containers are not to be returned into the facility <br />• any reason. <br />DISPOSAL: 1. Off-site infectious waste disposal is provided <br />under contract with: Stockton Scavenger Association <br />1240 Navy Drive <br />Stockton, Ca 95201 <br />209/946-5721 <br />2. One time weekly the Stockton Scavenger Co. will <br />pick up the filled bins from the designated <br />storage area outside the facility and replace them <br />with clean lined • <br />3.
