ARBOR CONVALESCENT HOSPITALENV1 <br /> ROMENTAL HEALTH <br /> Linen Control <br /> Policy: Clean and soiled linens must be handled, stored and <br /> processed in a manner that will prevent the spread of infection. <br /> Procedure: <br /> A. Soiled Linens: <br /> 1 . Soiled linens shall be stored in rooms marked "Soiled <br /> Linen". These rooms are equipped with Continously <br /> running exhaust fans. <br /> a. Soiled linens shall be stored in appropriately <br /> marked carts and kept covered. Never store <br /> soiled linens in patient rooms, showers, <br /> corridors, on the floor or on furniture. <br /> 2. When soiled linens are transported to the laundry <br /> area, they must be kept well covered. <br /> 3. All soiled linens shall enter the laundry area <br /> through the door labled "Soiled Linen". They must <br /> be placed inside the sorting room, and the door <br /> must be securely closed. Soiled linens shall never <br /> be allowed to accumulate outside the sorting room. <br /> 4. The Laundry Worker shall sort and rinse soiled linen <br /> as needed. Wash loads must go directly from the <br /> sorting room into the washing machine without being <br /> allowed to accumulate in the laundry area. <br /> 5. Laundry and linens from patients with infections or <br /> communicable diseases shall be delivered directly <br /> from infectious area to the sorting room in containers <br /> with tightly closed lids. The words "Infectious Linen" <br /> shall be written on the sides, and lid of the container <br /> with the biohazard international symbol readily visible. <br /> The infectious linens shall be in double red-bags or <br /> dissolvable bags which are in the containers. These <br /> items shall not be stored in the "Soiled Linent0 rooms <br /> nor allowed to come in contact with other linens. <br />
