72643 STORAGE AND DOF SOLID WASTE <br /> PR=URE: <br /> 72643 (a) interim Storage: 55 gallon heavy plastic garbage containers <br /> with clamp-on lids are provided. Heavy duty plastic bags <br /> Wine all garbage containers. Containers are emptied <br /> frequently by housekeepers. Barrels are cleaned with A-313. <br /> (b) Procedure for disposal: <br /> (1) The plasticbags of solid waste are taken to compacting <br /> area by housekeepers and compacted by maintenance and <br /> disposed of in the 'enclosed type dumpster' . <br /> (2) The Stockton Scavenger Disposal Company, per contract, <br /> picks-up the garbage three (3) times weekly. <br /> (3) The plastic containers are hosed out with hot water from <br /> a high pressure hose into the drainage system; sprayed <br /> with A-33; relined with a heavy duty plastic bag and <br /> returned to their place of origin by the housekeepers. <br /> (c) Disposi-ng of used syringes and needles as required by State <br /> Law and regulations: <br /> (1) Needles must be broken at the hilt after use by in <br /> the Destruclip - the first in the small cutting hole and <br /> second in the large cutting hole to break the suction <br /> ability of the syringe. <br /> (2) The barrel of the syringe must be broken or twisted by <br /> hand to destroy suction ability of the syringe. <br /> (3) Syringes and needles are periodically (when destruclip <br /> container is about 1/2 full) discarded into one of the <br /> boxes the syringes and needles come in, The needles <br /> and "ALL SHARPS" are kept in the heavy waxed for plastic <br /> denture cup) container until 1/2 full. A tight lid is <br /> placed on the cup and put in the box with the discarded <br /> syringes. The box is taped shut and then labeled <br /> s. ti waste and given to the janitor to dispose of <br /> 3 times weekly. The procedure prevents the needles from <br /> pierceing the plastic bag used to carry them from the <br /> facility. <br />
