In <br /> the patients room. <br /> Needles Syringes , Lancets , Scaple and Razor Blades <br /> Recap needles and discard all used needles , <br /> syringes , lancets, scaple and razor blades by <br /> placing them in the red plastic container (Sharp' s <br /> Collector) provided in each medicine room. Do <br /> Not fill container above fill line. When container <br /> is full, close container by swapping lid in place. <br /> The licensed nurse takes the filled container <br /> and places it in the covered container in the In- <br /> fectious Waste Room. <br /> DRESSING <br /> i <br /> Use disposable gloves when changing dressings <br /> (two sets-change between removal of soiled dressings <br /> and application of new dressing) . Discard all <br /> dressings and supplies used in the care of the wound <br /> into a plastic bag, seal with tape or by knotting <br /> top of bag, double bag by placing the bag inside <br /> another bag and seal it with tape of knot top of <br /> bag. Mark it "Infectious Waste" and put bag into :. <br /> marked container in Infectious Waste Room. <br /> SECRETIONS <br /> Discard all suction and Foley catheters , -drainage <br /> bags, tissues, dressings, disposable gloves and <br /> other infectious waste supplies in a plastic bag. <br /> Seal the bag with tape or by tying a knot in the <br /> top, and double bag in another plastic bag. Seal <br /> with tape or knot top. Mark "Infectious Waste " <br /> and discard into outside -dumpster. <br />
