' <br />3. Medical waste handling procedures utilized by facility: <br />a. Waste is generated onsite in the Blood Collections area <br />and in the Laboratory. All medical waste is considered to <br />be biohazardous waste and is segregated into bags in <br />properly labelled containers as the waste is produced. The <br />bags of biohazardous waste at the end of each day are placed <br />into covered barrels provided by the Registered Hazardous <br />Waste Hauler. As they are filled, the barrels are stored in <br />a secured area that is posted and locked to limit access. <br />The barrels are collected twice weekly and replaced with <br />empty barrels. <br />b. Description of storage area: The storage area is part <br />of the air-conditioned facility and not subject to high <br />temperatures. The area where the filled barrels are stored <br />is approximately 3' X 12' and completely enclosed in chain <br />link fencing. It is locked and posted in both English and <br />Spanish "Caution Biohazardous Waste Unauthorized Persons <br />Keep Out". The filled barrels are collected twice weekly. <br />C. There is no onsite treatment of medical waste at this <br />facility. <br />d.
