1.3 <br />A. FIRE <br />Panic can kill. Remember that our patients are not familiar with ail building <br />exits. Close windows and doors prior to evacuation to control spread of fire. <br />Keep the telephones clear unless you are reporting the fire. <br />Classification of Fires/Extinguishers <br />1. Class "A" - overstuffed furniture, waste paper baskets, etc. Use water <br />or dry chemical extinguisher if necessary. <br />2. Class '"B" - Flammable liquids, gasoline,, greases, etc. Use dry chemical <br />extinguisher. Water will spread this type of fire. <br />3. Class "C" - Electrical equipment. Use d2y chemical extinguisher. Don't <br />use water. <br />Administrator is the practice Fire Marshall. His/her responsibility shall be: <br />1. The placement of fire fighting equipment and devices and their periodic <br />inspection and maintenance in compliance with local fire codes. <br />2. The effective operation of the fire plan including the training of clinic <br />personnel and the conducting of fire drills. <br />3. The establishment, publication and enforcement of all regulations neces- <br />sary to keep corridors, aisles, doorways, and all other means ofentry and <br />exit clear from all obstructions. <br />4. The regular inspection of the entire building and adjacent areas including <br />closets and storage spaces for the purpose of controlling all accumulation <br />of combustibles, removing what might be of danger to personnel and building. <br />B. FIRE PREVENTION I <br />1. Keep your work areas and exits free from debris. <br />2. Report unsafe conditions to your supervisor. <br />3. Be extra careful when working around/with flammable gases or liquids. <br />4. Do not smoke in the building or be a careless user of cigarets or matches. <br />5. Do not put oily cloths, rags, etc. in closets or cabinets. <br />
