The storage containers will be located in the Medical Waste <br />Closet adjacent to the Utility Room, secured to deny access to <br />unauthorized personnel. This area will display prominent <br />warning signs in English -- "Caution - Infectious Waste Storage <br />Area -Unauthorized Persons Keep out", and in Spanish -- <br />"Cuidado -Zona de Residous Infectados - Prohibida la Entrada a <br />Personas No Autorizadas". The area will be kept clean at all <br />times. <br />E. The storage containers will be picked up by Stericycle Inc., <br />intact as a unit, each Thursday or as often as required, but in <br />any event, often enough so as to avoid the putrification of the <br />waste contained therein. This facility does not have a Limited <br />Quantity Hauling Exemption; all hauling and disposal is done by <br />Stericycle, Inc. <br />F. The volume of biomedical waste t be transported and incinerated <br />or autoclaved per month is estimated at approximately 1000 <br />pounds. <br />G. Each new staff member will receive an in-depth orientation on <br />the procedure for the in-house collection, transportation, <br />and/or storage of biomedical waste at this facility prior to <br />his/her first day on the job. On-going in-service training <br />will be provided by the person in charge of this area. <br />H. Tracking documents, for all medical wastes handled and disposed <br />of for this facility, are supplied by Stericycle, Inc. This <br />documentation is kept on file and is available in the business <br />office of the Lodi Dialysis facility for a minimum of three (3) <br />years. <br />I. Medical Waste Emergency Action Plan: If storage container <br />inside facility is spilled, dialysis staff has been trained to <br />follow standard Universal Precautions, as per our Policies and <br />Procedures for any possible exposure, and in using the spill <br />kits, if necessary. Should the spill occur in the Medical <br />Waste Closet, Stericycle Inc. is equipped with spill kits for <br />clean-up. <br />J. The local Director of Health will be promptly notified if this <br />Medical Waste Disposal Plan is discontinued or altered. <br />
