Public Health Services (SJCPHS) is registered as a Large Quantity Generator. <br />The estimated monthly volume of medical and laboratory waste is 200 lbs. The Public Health <br />Laboratory treats, Select Agent wastes by autoclaving prior to disposal. The Public Health Clinic <br />and Public Health Laboratory are the only generators of medical waste for Public Health. In <br />addition, the Public Health Clinic has a Medical Waste Limited Hauler permit to allow for <br />transport to SJCPHS for proper disposal of small quantities (less than 20 lbs at any one time) of <br />biohazardous waste from either other clinic sites in the county or from field use during patient <br />visits. All biohazardous/medical waste is collected by a contracted Medical waste hauler and <br />treated at the approved off site treatment facility. <br />SJPH Medical Waste Management Plan 6-22-2011 <br />
