Describe the following methods used for medical waste: <br /> Collection procedures: <br /> All biohazardous waste and sharps are collected at the point of generation in red biohazardous bags and <br /> rigid red "Sharps Waste" containers respectively. The bags and containers are labeled. Sealed and secured <br /> in a designated on-site storage location. Biohazardous waste is picked up twice a week. <br /> Storage Methods (including duration and temperature controls) <br /> All biohazardous waste is stored inside in a designated area with bilingual warning signs posted denying <br /> access to unauthorized persons. All biohazardous waste are collected daily. <br /> Disinfection procedures (containers,wastes, linen) <br /> Approved methods of decontamination are used to prevent growth and activity of microorganisms for all <br /> contaminated items or surfaces. Examples of decontamination solutions are PVP Iodine, Arm Prep <br /> Solution, Alcohol, and 1:10 bleach/Water mixture. These solutions are used along with the appropriate <br /> personal protective equipment(i.e. gloves, respirators, goggles). <br /> 3 <br />
