DELTA HEALTH CARE <br /> OSHA BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS COMPLIANCE PROCEDURES <br /> The purpose of this procedure manual is to outline Delta Health Care's compliance procedures <br /> as they relate to the OSHA Bloodborne Standards dated December 5, 1991. <br /> These procedures and protocols cover all employees who could be "reasonably anticipated," as <br /> the result of performing their job duties to face contact with bloat and other potentially <br /> infectious materials. <br /> A copy of this manual will be posted in the clinic labs in order to be accessible to all employees. <br /> This manual will be updated at least annually, more often if necessary to accommodate <br /> workplace changes. <br /> EXPOSURE CONTROL PLAN <br /> The infectious materials which Delta Health Care employees could come in contact with include <br /> blood and vaginal secretions and urine. <br /> The following duties/tasks could lead to contact with these fluids. <br /> 1) Phlebotomy; <br /> 2) Performing medical examinations; <br /> 3) Hemoglobin/hematocrits; <br /> 4) Assisting clinician; <br /> 5) Urine dipsticks; or <br /> 6) Cleaning/sterilizing equipment. <br /> 7) Cleaning clinic and laboratory <br /> The following job classifications could lead to contact with these fluids. <br /> 1) Phlebotomist; <br /> 2) Clinician; <br /> 3) RN; or <br /> 4) Pregnancy Counselor. <br /> METHODS OF COMPLIANCE: <br /> All medical staff must follow universal precautions (treating all body fluids/materials as if <br /> infectious). In addition, all Delta Health Care employees and volunteers performing one or <br /> more of the above listed duties are expected to follow all outlined procedures.
