Amok <br /> DELTA HEALTH CARE <br /> OSHA BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS COMPLIANCE PROCEDURES <br /> Sharps Containers will be placed in all areas where needles may be used. <br /> 1) Do not recap needles/lancets. <br /> 2) Do not carry used needles/lancets to other rooms. <br /> 3) Do not reuse needles/lancets. <br /> 4) Dispose of used needles/lancets immediately. <br /> SPECIMENS: <br /> All laboratory specimens should be handled in a manner which minimizes the possibility of <br /> contact. This includes pap smears, urine samples, wet mounts, biopsies and blood. <br /> 1) Wear gloves when handling. <br /> 2) Wrap specimens in appropriate container/bag. <br /> 3) Insert paperwork for proper identification. <br /> 4) Secure all lids/plugs to avoid spillage. <br /> 5) Immediately dispose of medium and/or containers. <br /> 6) Label all specimens correctly. <br /> PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: <br /> Delta Health Care will have on hand a supply of all necessary personal protective equipment. <br /> While not mandated by law, Delta Health Care requires that gloves are worn whenever an <br /> employee is liable to come in contact with bodily fluids/materials. <br /> 1) Gloves (all sizes). <br /> 2) Face masks. <br /> 3) Aprons (clothing protection). <br /> CLEANING/DECONTAMINATION: <br /> Following spillage of any bodily fluid the area must be cleaned and decontaminated. <br /> 1) Wear gloves to clean area. <br /> 2) Wipe up spillage with a paper towel. <br /> 3) Wipe area down with appropriate agent. <br /> HEPATITIS B VACCINE; <br /> Any person employed by Delta Health Care who will have direct patient contact, contact with <br /> patient specimens, or dirty instruments shall have the Hepatitis B Vapcine series or provide proof <br /> of having had the series. <br /> The series of three Hepatitis B immunizations will be paid for by the clinic for all full and part <br /> time employees in the job categories noted above.
