1
18. Air Quality
Short term air quality impacts will be produced by
construction equipment/activity ( vehicle emis-
sions , dust ) . Construction plan specifications
will incorporate provisions to mitigate short term
impact.
The source of long term air quality impact will
primarily be increased traffic generated by the
project and future development of nearby property.
The project is in conformance with the City
General Plan and thus was included in the analysis
of potential future emissions contained in the San
Joaquin County Air Quality Maintenance Plan.
The project will contribute cumulatively to long
term air quality problems . The medical center
should actively promote alternate forms of
transportation among its employees including
transit, bicycle use, and car pooling. Stationary
sources will be controlled by programs of the Air
Pollution Control District.
19. Habitat & Wildlife
No natural habitats and/or wildlife are apparent
on the site or immediately adjacent undeveloped
area. As has been the experience throughout the
metropolitan area, earlier clearing of land for
agriculture and urban development has removed
wildlife habitats.
20. Energy Usage
The proposed project will generate demand for gas
and electrical energy to satisfy the requirements
of medical offices and hospital. Kaiser intends
to incorporate all feasible energy saving devices
encouraged or required by regulatory agencies.
21 . Agricultural Lands
The site conceivably could be farmed . However,
commercial farming has not occurred in the
immediate past. Urban development is occurring
throughout the area and the City General Plan
designates the project site for commercial and
industrial uses.
30
