The following water quality testing shall be completed from the new well prior to EHD approving
the water source for use for a public water system. The results of this monitoring shall be
submitted to EHD. State certified laboratory personnel shall do the sampling of the well and
testing of the water from a state approved laboratory facility. Instruct the laboratory to label these
samples as"Well 1"for the new well and obtain the water samples from the wellhead.
a. Secondary(aesthetics): Bicarbonate,carbonate,and hydroxide alkalinity,calcium, iron,
magnesium, manganese,pH,sodium, and total hardness are due at least once (California Code
of Regulations(CCR),Title 22, Section 64449).
b. Inorganic chemicals: Required once every three years (CCR,Title 22, Section 64432(b)(1)).
This Department currently waives asbestos and cyanide.
C. Nitrates: Required annually. Sampling shall be quarterly if results exceed %2 of the Maximum
Contaminant Level(MCL)of 45mg/L(CCR,Title 22, Section 64432(a)).
d. Nitrites: Required once every three years(CCR,Title 22, Section 64432 (a).
e. Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs): Required once every 6 years. If a sample result
exceeds the Detection Limit, then sampling shall be quarterly for that VOC(CCR,Title 22,
Section 64445 and 64445.1).
f. Synthetic Organic Compounds(SOCs): Required once every three years. If a sample result
exceeds the Detection Limit, then sampling shall be quarterly for that SOC (CCR,Title 22,
Section 64445.1). This Department currently waives SOCs except for DBCP and EDB.
g. The tests shall be taken and reported within
a seven-day period and in no case be more than twenty-eight(28) days prior to use of the well.
Routine bacteriological samples will then be required once each calendar month from the
distribution system.
3. Provide EHD with data that demonstrates the new source can provide an adequate quality and
quantity of water according to the California Water Works Standard(pump tests, meter readings,
etc.).
4. Provide the driller's well log to EHD and an updated technical report as required by the Health
and Safety(H&S)Code, Section 116530.
5. Provide to EHD the manufacturer's specification sheets for the well pump and storage tanks
including the pump curve data sheet.
6.
